QA Technician

Job Summary:

A Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the inspection of all incoming materials/products and finished egg products. Quality Assurance participates in many functions in accordance with company standards, SQF, HACCP, and USDA regulatory requirements to ensure safety and quality of employees and products.

 

Essential Job Functions 

  • Product sensory evaluations, weight, count and defect checks.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing product quality per company and customer specifications.
  • HACCP point monitoring, recording and reporting (CCP/CP’S)
  • Monitoring and Assurance of Food Safety Programs:
  • GMPc and company policies.
  • Sanitizer concentration verification.
  • Pre-operational and building inspection (visual and swabbing)
  • Equipment calibrations (thermometer/pH meters)
  • Performing basic laboratory testing as needed
  • Maintaining and inventorying laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor and report Plant Food Safety, Quality deviations to Quality Management
  • Assure compliance with regulatory requirements USDA AMS/FSIS/ FDA
  • Quality Assurance Technicians are the food safety representative, fostering a positive work environment ensuring that Policies of the Company and the Company's Code of Conduct are respected and communicated.

  • In the absence of Quality Assurance Technicians, trained Quality Assurance Technician II, Quality Management, Plant Management or Process Management has the ability to perform the duties as described above.

 

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: High School diploma/GED; Associates Degree preferred              
  • EXPERIENCE: Food Safety and quality assurance experienced in a food manufacturing for 2 years preferred
  • REQUIRED SKILLS: Ability to work independently. Basic knowledge of computer skills (e-mail, and Microsoft Office).
  • PREFERRED SKILLS: Knowledge in food processing/HACCP/SQF, and/or regulatory compliance strongly preferred, but not mandatory. Fluent in English language, bi-lingual preferred. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed for vacations and peak periods.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, maneuver 50 lbs cartons or boxes of eggs, reach with hands and arms, and bend.  The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools or controls.   Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the office work environment is moderately quiet while the plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, heights, traffic, oil and electricity. Allergens found inside the plant include: eggs
